What the Pinterest?

Okay, Pinterest. I have a serious bone to pick with you.

Rather, a bone to pick with the peeps who have pinned tutorials for leg warmers/boot socks made out of a sweater sleeves.

I'm not going to name any names here (or post your tutorials),
but I am going to generally, passive-aggressively throw you under the bus by saying this:

Your tutorials are great in theory.
Great if you have huge arms.
Great if you have toothpick legs.
I have neither of these.
I got super excited about making some boot socks with a sweater that I don't really wear anymore.
But then became completely crestfallen when putting it into practice.
To give you a nice mental image...
trying to get my calves into my sweater sleeves was a bit like squeezing my post holiday bod into my spanks. nice.

It wasn't exactly the look...

After crying myself to sleep (okay, not really),
I went back to it with a pair of scissors, a positive attitude, and a song in my heart.

I cut from the torso of the sweater,

sewed the pieces into tubes,

sewed up the bottom,

and done.

I feel so much better now.
So, that's the tutorial for leg warmers/boot socks from a sweater for normal people.
or maybe just people with big legs?

fini.

  1. I know! I cut the arms off of one of my old sweaters after I saw one of those tutorials and they were big enough to fit on my 2 1/2-year-old daughter's legs. I still have the rest of the sweater though, so this is great!

  3. I have to restrain myself from leaving snarky comments on the ridiculous projects on pinterest.

Want to know another one that totally doesn't work? The Aluminum foil on the doorknob for painting tip. grrrr. Plain old painters tape was way easier.
